A GIS-MCDA-Based Suitability Analysis for Meeting Targets 6.3 and 6.5 of the Sustainable Development Goals

Among the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established in 2030 Agenda, goals 6.3, regarding clean water and improve of quality, 6.5, integrated resources management, highlight need for implementation successful environmental quality monitoring programs transboundary river waterbodies. In present study, designation high priority areas Drin watershed is performed using a suitability model, GIS-based multicriteria decision analysis (GIS-MCDA) approach that takes into consideration most important conditioning factors impose pressures on rivers. Based results, methodological used manages to sufficiently delimit with increased watershed, validation procedure produces correlation coefficient 0.454 (statistically significant at 0.01 level). Limitations arise case lack detailed information or inaccurate input data due inconsistency among different approaches collection each country involved. These restrictions foreground cooperation between countries involved exchange scientific knowledge common legislation, so as achieve integrated, effective, sustainable management area.
